To help improve the ward environment and raise the spirits of patients and everyone on the ward large scale images of the local area have been used to improve wayfinding and communication.

To help hospital users find their way around more easily large scale photographs of the local moorland have been used as landmarks in the corridor leading to the ward entrance  this eyecatching moorland image is easily seen from a distance and with the name of the ward prominently displayed above helps guide people to their destination.

Within the ward moorland images have also been used as part of the signage this helps to create a calmer more restful atmosphere on the ward, helping to  reassure patients and visitors.

To improve communication on the ward the old style patient information whiteboards that used to be displayed above patient beds have been replaced by an A3 board which shows essential patient information in a more user friendly format, the bed location and also a unique photographic image, this helps to clearly define the patient's bed space.
