Francesca Steele is an artist who worked alongside clinical staff in the Histopathology Department of Derriford Hospital.

As an artist she uses video, installation and live one-to-one performance to question visual issues brought about by the physical, psychological and biological affects of human presence. The use and manipulation of the senses (particularly the gaze) dominates her practice.

During her time in the Histopathology Department, she explored visual pattern, structure and repetition and created images that use aspects of the basic composition and forms of the human body, informed by the histories of Fine Art; particularly the aesthetics of the Arts and Crafts Movement.

Below are some images that she created during her time with Zest. Some of these have now been printed as transparencies and been mounted onto light boxes and hung in the Radiology Acadamy.
