Two 'state of the art' intensive care wards are currently being built within the Terence Lewis Building (Derriford Hospital). Opening in summer 2008 it will be the largest such facility west of London.
As part of the process of developing the new facility we carried out extensive consultation with over 600 people looking at what the new wards would be called. The final choice was Penrose and Pencarrow (Cornwall beauty spots) We then commissioned Ian James Woods to capture the beauty of these locations using his iconic panorama photographs. These images will be used as part of the ‘Way finding’ to assist with finding the new wards.
Within the new facility there will be a number of artworks that complement the interior design scheme. We are in the final stages of commissioning this work.
