Zest has led the consultation with future users of the Unit to choose an interior design scheme for walls and floors and images for the ceiling and wall panels. Colours were selected from a palette created especially for the healing environment by consultant Sian Lewis.The Unit has been created to replace the old system of patient admissions, whereby patients were admitted at many different locations within the hospital. The new central admission point for all patients has been designed to create a warm welcoming environment for patients and their families at what is for many a stressful time .
A light calm colour scheme, and a wayfinding scheme using local and regional landscape photographs taken by Dawlish based photographer Ian Wood all create a warm welcoming space.
