The Peninsula Medical School is a partnership between the Universities of Exeter and Plymouth and the NHS in Devon and Cornwall Having established a highly successful medical undergraduate Programme, the School was selected to create a Peninsula Dental School as part of a national expansion of dental student numbers in the UK. The Peninsula Medical School is now known as the Peninsula Medical and Dental School.

| Special Study Unit 2007/8 |
This Special Study Unit highlights the role of arts in healthcare, a relatively new subject but one that new doctors are increasingly aware of. As more and more healthcare professionals take a more holistic approach to patient care, the healthcare environment is increasingly seen as an important factor in both the patient experience and staff working lives.
To give fourth year medical students experience in this field Zest is working in partnership with the Peninsula Medical School to offer students the opportunity to work on a project improving the healthcare environment.
In 2007/8 students have been/are looking at a range of projects including:
- Commissioning of a new general intensive care unit
- Improving the healthcare environment for children and young people
- Developing the healthcare environment for children and young people
