I was invited to work on the "Remember" Project with the patients in the Denney Smith Unit at Mount Gould Hospital.
The project has been a joint venture with Zest, the Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery and staff at the unit. Working together handling objects from the past we have helped patients to revisit and share their memories, returning to a time when they had more control over their lives.
I have really enjoyed working with the patients, and I know that although some of the staff were initially a little sceptical, now we can all see just how much patients have gained in confidence, feel empowered and in control of part of their lives again.
A series of pictures illustrating the project has been put up, this has made a real difference to the atmosphere in the unit as well as brightening up the environment and creating a real buzz amongst staff, patients and visitors.
